I simply cannot ink with a brush.

I inked two other pictures tonight with different pen nibs, and they turned out fine. Actually, they look great. But I tried to do some practice work with the brushes I have, and it sucked. Just spreading out everywhere. Maybe I need some new brushes. It's time for a visit to the art supply stores anyways.

Also, there's some ups and downs to having this real bed, unlike the futon mattress on the floor that I was so accustomed to.
PROS: You can store shit under the bed, things like toys, art supplies, magazines, dead bodies... you know, whatever I might have lying around.

CONS: You can also have shit fall right off the bed. Pillows, blankets, dead bodies... you know, whatever I might have in bed with me.

Another problem is that it's too clean. All nice, off-white and shiny. My old be was supposed to be canvas white, but it was dirty and gray, covered in ink, pencil, blood, and, uh... piss from when Bethany peed all over everything in my room. Nevermind that, though. I keep worrying that I'm gonna get it dirty or spill something on it. If I owned a bedspread, maybe I could use that.
I'll have to see how much this frame squeaks and how much extra crap I'd need to store under the bed before I decide whether or not to take it off the frame and leave it lying on the floor.

Gotta admit, brushes are hard to work with, but the quality of the brushes has a LOT to do with the quality of the results...I fully admit to at one time having a nice collection of Wal-Mart brushes, these would leave nice little pieces of themselves in nearly every thing I painted...also, their tips and shape would last for no more than three uses...in the long run, it was found to be much more cost efficient for me to shell out the $20.00 for a good brush that would last.

Also, I nice trick to inking...until you get the hang of it, Xerox the original prior to painting it...the quality of paper isn't as good, but a xerox doesn't bleed, practice on the copy before ruining the original.

as for the bed...I slept on a couch for nearly ten years, and I still curl into the wall when I go to sleep.

Well, I'm not painting, I'm just doing inkwork, but I'm guessing the principle is the same. All of these are brushes I got from an old art teacher back in highschool, and even though I never used'em until a few years ago, they're all falling apart regardless, I guess from the constant previous use. Maybe I should shell out some dough for the new ones.
